Monitor your competition

Ensure that you check out what similar companies are doing, what is working for them and which platforms they are using. A great way to keep an eye on them without them knowing is creating ‘lists’ on Twitter but ALWAYS make sure you select the list as private trust me it is soo un- cool when someone receives a notification that you have listed them as a competitor. This means you will be able to select this list and have a look at their tweets without having to scroll through your full newsfeed.

Decide on your post times and content

Once you have decided which platforms you are going to use whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or blogging, you need to target yourSocial Media Tips specific audience. You must decide which days of the week and times of the day are best for engaging your fans, but also the frequency of your posts. Remember that posting more often does not always mean higher engagement always choose quality over quantity, and post content that is relatable and that your audience are going to share.

Customer service

A key component of your marketing strategy should be providing customer care. If for any reason a customer decides to write a bad review or negative comment on your profile NEVER respond negatively as this can often spiral out of control. Alway’ reply in a polite manner and take it offline and show your other customers that you are dealing with this in the correct manner. Always try and respond to comments or questions being asked on the profile remember it is also good to have a personality on the profile, customers like to talk to people and feel like they are important to the company, they are less likely to talk to you if you speak to them like they are just another customer.

Social media is on the radar of SME’s today and has huge potential to drive sales, increase brand awareness and also enhance customer engagement."
