A look at Zobi - the startup that's on a mission to prevent cybercrime across your home network care of Hedgehog!

We are ever more connected to the internet in our homes. How many devices do you have connected right now? Your phone and laptop? Your TV and a game console? Your smart fridge, doorbell, thermostat, the camera watching your baby? How many of those devices are capable of running their own antivirus software and how many are reliant on the very basic protection offered by your router?

The short answer is that most of the devices you have that are connected to the internet do not have any real protection and are much easier for hackers to gain access to than your computer or phone.

From there, they can take more and do more damage than you might imagine. With so many people working from home at the moment, hackers are also using them as a gateway to access their company’s network, making network security all that more important right now.

hedgehog.aiLondon-based tech startup Zobi has a new product that they say can help keep all of your network devices safe from attack.

Hedgehog is a device that sits in your house and monitors the security of your network and the activity on it, using Zobi’s Home Intelligence AI to detect when there are potential threats, data breaches, unknown devices connected to the network, and more.

From the companion app, one tap will scan your network and deliver a security report, telling you all sorts of information, including the strength of your router password, what devices are connected to the network, what devices are currently in use, and other useful information for keeping yourself and your family safe from cybercrime.

It’s important to note that this is not a one-off purchase: after the initial £199 price tag, there is a monthly subscription of between £3.99 and £9.99 depending on how safe you want to be.

Recently, Zobi won the Start-Up Series competition, netting them £150,000 in investment, and on 2 August, they announced that they have already raised £300,000 in pledges after 72 hours of fundraising. So clearly, plenty of people share their idea that security for connected devices is important!
