A Remote Year as a Digital Nomad

by Startacus Admin
For some, remote working is just something to do when you’re snowed in or can’t be bothered with the commute; for others it’s a way of life. However, few people have remote working ambitions beyond the local coffee shop or a park bench down the street.
But what if you could work remotely in a different city every month for a whole year? That’d be pretty cool, right?
This is exactly the idea behind Remote Year, a programme which takes the ever more popular ‘Digital Nomad’ trend to an entirely different level, but turning remote working into a round the world adventure.
75 of these digital nomads from across the globe will spend a year working, traveling, and exploring 12 cities like; Prague, London, Belgrade, Lisbon, Rabat, Valencia, Sofia, Kuala Lumpur, Koh Phangan, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City.
The programme provides travel, accommodation, coworking space, and community activities along the way. It sounds like an awful lot of fun, and a great opportunity to meet some new people and see some of the world without having to take a long break from your career. It is quite pricey though (depending on how rich or poor you are) with the programme costing somewhere in the region of $27,000 (about £22,000) per person.
However, the availability of cash isn’t the only factor that might stand in the way of your dreams of a nomadic digital career; last year over Xk people applied to take part, which gives you a sense of how enticing the prospect is!
Programs will launch frequently throughout 2017 and vary in start dates, destinations and time zones.
