The lowdown on Codices Interactive, the startup that's developing interactive tools and services for content creators and broadcasters

Codices imageEntertainment has been through many changes and evolutions to strive to be more interactive. Be it children calling out to puppets in a puppet show, quiz shows, TV and radio taking call-ins, videogames, or live streaming on services like Twitch and YouTube.

Many audiences want to be able to interact with what they are watching and the latter streaming services provide this better than anything. Streamers can read comments in real-time and answer commenters, get immediate feedback and ideas, have a chat with thousands of people while building a cutesy farm on an island of tyrannical animals, or pretty much anything they and their audience want to do.

Truro-based Codices Interactive’s team brings years of experience with shows from Big Brother to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and now they have their sights set on Twitch.

Codices Interactive offers tools and services to content creators to help them interact with their audience more and come up with more content ideas for their streams. Their Quiz Kit allows streamers to put together and host their own quiz show, using either ready-made quizzes or crafting their own, allowing audiences to play along for fun or for prizes, and giving the streamer a dashboard with leaderboards, analytics, and more.

codices logoTheir Ask It extension allows audiences to create live polls on a streamer’s channel, interacting with each other and the streamer, and helping the streamer better understand their audience and what they want. The Codices Interactive team is also available to offer advice, help writing quiz or poll questions, aiding with in-depth development, or to build a bespoke product for content creators.

We previously wrote about Codices Interactive back in 2018, when we were taking a look at Falmouth University’s Launchpad programme. This time, the startup is sporting a new title of Tech Nation Rising Stars winner, as announced in February. The Rising Stars competition showcases the most exciting companies between seed and pre-Series A funding from around the UK.

The prize package is carefully crafted for the challenges faced by early-stage companies, raising the winners’ profile, introductions to investors, and providing support from programme partners such as Microsoft Advertising and Talent Works International.
