Support Peppy

Peppy is an innovative startup that's on a mission is to make it easier for people to get support from qualified and vetted health practitioners...

peppy appSome groups of people are particularly affected by the current lockdown. Those with mental health struggles or those who are in a form of isolation already due to various factors such as ill health, advanced age, or even new parents with a baby taking all of their focus and time can find this additional level of isolation crushing.

To help combat this, the NHS’s innovation arm, NHSX, launched TechForce19, an initiative designed to trial digital solutions for these groups of people. One of the companies involved is Beam, whose aid for the homeless might be familiar, because we wrote about them in 2018.

Another of the companies TechForce19 has awarded up to £25,000 to in this initiative is London-based Peppy, a platform that has responded to the current situation with COVID-19 crisis support to connect new and expectant parents to those who can answer the wide variety of health questions they inevitably have, but would not go to a doctor with (even if they were allowed out of the house right now...which they might / might not be allowed to do right now...Boris?).

This is on top of the service that Peppy was already running to connect vulnerable and isolated people with experts to talk about mental health, menopause, and parenthood, with many other topics coming soon.

Peppy How your interaction with these experts works depends on the topic in question, but most consist of small group discussions with others in similar positions, as well one-on-one support from the practitioner. You will also be provided with a range of specialist advice, coping measures, exercises, and more.

Peppy is available for individuals as well as for employers to offer to their employees not only during this pandemic but as part of caring for them on an ongoing basis and helping to keep them healthy and happy.

Being a new or expectant parent is stressful and anxiety-inducing enough without the current virus situation, so a platform specifically for those parents to get the help and support they need during this time is hugely valuable and we have little doubt the number of users will skyrocket as soon as the two-week trial is complete.
