Zebra Fuel offers a fuel station in your pocket

by Startacus Admin
Zebra Fuel, an innovative app that delivers diesel directly to your car, recently raised £1.8m in funding to fuel their growth.
Mere days ago, we stood at a fuel station counter while the cashier rolled her eyes at our request for some kind of wipe to remove the stinking diesel from our hands and we thought, ‘there has to be a better way’.
Or, more accurately, we didn’t think that because we didn’t dare to dream that there was a better way. A less fuel-covered-hands way. If we’d known that there was, in fact, a better, cleaner, more convenient and efficient way, we would have thrown that dried out wet wipe back at the cashier and bid her ‘good day, madam!’ and stormed out. Also not true - we would have still politely and Britishly ignored the eye roll. But we would have downloaded the ‘fuel station in your pocket’ and never gone back.
In more coherent terms, we’re saying that Putney-based Zebra Fuel delivers fuel straight to your car.
They dared to dream the dream we did not - the impossible dream of diesel. Using the app, you tell them your location, your number place, and how much fuel you want, and you’ll see right there in black and white how much it will cost, including the small service charge (which depends on the day of the week and time of day).
One of Zebra’s trained and certified fuel wranglers will then be dispatched to bring the fuel straight to your car. All you need to do is leave the little door thingy open. The in-app map will even show you where the Zebra van is. If you need to move the car, you can cancel the delivery at any time.
Currently, UK regulation makes delivering petrol tricky, so Zebra only offers diesel for now. But it is offered at a competitive price, and saves you time and perhaps even fuel otherwise used up in a dedicated journey to fill up. For now, Zebra delivers to London Zones 1-4, and is expanding to Paris.
Recently, Zebra Fuel raised £1.8m in funding from the founders of Zoopla, LoveFilm, and LastMinute.com. There will be more where that came from, as we foresee good things for such a useful and easy to use service, especially in the heart of cities where people would otherwise be making dedicated journeys to the fuel station.
