xigxag - the startup aiming to revolutionise reading.

by Startacus Admin
xigxag is a Cornwall-based startup that has created an innovative audiobook app offering great prices, no subscriptions and exclusive access to their listen-and-read x-book®.
Audiobooks have become more and more popular in our society that never takes the time to slow down enough for something like reading. Not that audiobooks have to take the place of reading any more than watching TV or listening to podcasts do, which means that even avid readers are listening to more audiobooks.
Having a professional narrator or, arguably better still, the authors themselves read to you can not only be a unique pleasure, but also allows us to get on with other things while we listen.
Cornwall-based startup xigxag has built a platform for audiobook lovers to get all the best audiobooks for the best prices.
On xigxag, you don’t pay a subscription, but the app keeps track of your purchases and the price of each title lowers the more you purchase, from £7.99 for 1-5 titles all the way down to £3.99 each for over 20. So the more audiobooks you listen to, the less you pay, and you never find yourself paying for nothing when you have a lull in your reading.
Another unique feature of the app is its ‘x-book’, in which you get the ebook version of the book as well as the audiobook so that you can read along with the narration. Not only does this allow you to save sections of a book for later reference, or share them with friends, but it is a great tool for children learning to read, or people learning the language to get a better grip of the written language.
In November 2021, the startup’s Seedrs fundraising achieved its £250,000 goal, and then went on to bring in 118% of that goal. This funding was slated for expanding the development team to ‘deliver further experience innovation in the app and improve content processing automation via the application of machine learning’, and to extend their reach and bring in new customers.
