Workscan - sourcing work placements made easy

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on Workscan, the startup that's on a mission to help connect students with work placements in a simpler, more streamlined and engaging way
Finding work placements as a student can be daunting and difficult, and because it’s your first work position, you might not even know what you’re really looking for. There are plenty of platforms available to host these placement offerings, but what students could really benefit from is a platform designed from the ground up by someone just like them, who understands exactly what they need.
London-based startup Workscan has created a platform to connect students with work placements in a simpler, more streamlined, more engaging way than is currently available. It was created by one of the University of West London’s former students - Ioannis Antypas - to help give students valuable work experience and give them a head start in their careers, as well as providing employers with fresh talent with new ideas and outlooks and helping to improve their businesses.
When Ioannis Antypas arrived in England from Greece as a child, he spoke no English, and while still at school, he ran a small business of his own, wrote a book, and created seven gaming apps. From there, he went to Uxbridge college to study cybersecurity and information technology before going on to a Information Technology Management for Business course with a first-class honours degree at the University of West London, helping to bring Workscan to life. This entrepreneur-since-childhood story is the kind that exemplifies the startup scene that we love to write about and work in.
In November, Westmont Hub, located in the University of West London itself, announced that it has entered into a shareholding agreement with Workscan as part of the startup’s launch campaign. Workscan is currently in its pre-registration phase, and students and businesses can join the waitlist for priority access as soon as the platform launches in under 60 days at the time of writing.
