Wild - the effective, sustainable and natural cosmetic startup

by Startacus Admin
Wild is an eco startup that's creating high performing products, using natural ingredients, whilst reducing the impact we have on the environment and our surroundings...
Deodorant and antiperspirant is something that (unfortunately only) most people put on every day. In this more environment-conscious age, what we see when we think about this is piles and piles of plastic going to landfills, being dumped into the ocean, and all of the environmental horrors that we’ve talked about many times previously that arise from so much waste plastics.
In addition, the ‘anti’ part of antiperspirant is aluminium, which we are more conscious of being pretty unhealthy to be absorbing into our skin all the time, not to mention all of the parabens and other stuff shoved into these everyday products for good measure. So what we need is something better, healthier, greener, and more natural. Just maybe not a lump of Himilayan rock salt.
London-based eco startup Wild Cosmetics has thought the same thing, and unlike us, has taken action! Wild is a deodorant with no aluminium, no parabens, no sulphates, no artificial fragrances, and no plastic.
When you first buy a Wild deodorant, you choose the fragrance - out of 5 choices - and more importantly, you choose your case colour. This case will stay with you, and when the deodorant is finished, you throw away the plant-based insert and plug a new one into the same case. The case itself is aluminium, but it won’t be thrown away and isn’t leaching into the deodorant, and those inserts break down and can be composted. Refills are sent automatically, on a flexible, pausable subscription.
Ingredients include tapioca starch, minimal sodium bicarbonate, sunflower seed wax, coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils for the fragrances. These are chosen to not only keep Wild natural and vegan, but also to keep your skin moisturised while keeping it dry. And because there’s no aluminium to react with your sweat’s salt, there’s no yellow stains on your clothes.
In line with their goal of offsetting their footprint, they donate a percentage of every sale to ‘On A Mission’, a climate charity based on reforestation. In October, Wild announced that it had raised £2m in seed funding, in a round led by Jam Jar Investments. This funding will go to expanding the team and technology, growing their product range, and reaching out internationally.
