Why You Should Consider Getting a Fleet

by Startacus Admin
Thinking of growing your business? Having your own fleet of company vehicles ought be one of the factors to consider.
There are many factors to consider when trying to expand a business. Whether you're trying out a new niche to onboarding more employees, you have a lot of options at your disposal. One method that every business needs to consider is owning a fleet. In this article, we'll be covering why you should consider getting a fleet.
What is a Fleet?
Before we get into the why, it's important to understand what you're going to be putting your money towards. A fleet is a group of personalized vehicles that's owned by a company or corporation. These vehicles aren't used like your standard personal vehicles. Professional vehicles are used for all sorts of purposes ranging from delivery services to simply being a moving advertisement. You should already be aware that this is going to be a big investment, but it's one that can help generate more success for your business. Not only do the vehicles cost a lot, you also have to factor in the price for management software and technology.
You need the proper technology and software in order remain compliant with the hours-of-service rules. One piece of technology that can help you remain compliant with the DOT regulations are electronic logging devices (ELDs). ELDs are installed inside of the onboard diagnostics module of the car, which acts similarly to the motherboard of a computer. It records everything the car does ranging from when it's turned on, to how steep of a turn the driver took.
The Vehicles are Easier to Afford
Now that you know what a fleet is and what you can do with it, let's get into why you should consider having one. To start, these are vehicles that far easier to finance than a regular one. While you're still going to pay thousands for the cars and trucks, maintaining them isn't as expensive as you think they'd be. This is all thanks to fleet insurance, which is a special type of insurance that lets you insure as many vehicles as you want on a single policy. Having only a single policy can save you a lot of money compared to getting an insurance policy for each one. Keep in mind that the cost of the policy depends on how many cars are on it and the average cost for each vehicle can be around $1,500.
Your Customers Will be More Satisfied
One of the top business trends of the moment is to greatly prioritize customer service as a main way to stand out from the competition. If your business specializes in delivery and courier services, then investing into a few vehicles is an absolute must. A good fleet can provide your clientele with the fast and efficient services they deserve. The more successful deliveries you have, the better your business will do.
Fleets Can Reduce the Risk
Using a fleet to do business is a fantastic way to reduce potential risks. In the business world, almost nothing is without risk, and delivery services is certainly no exception. Standard shipping comes with the risk of the package being damaged, lost or stolen. Having your own fleet lets your customers feel the security they need with their packages and orders. Furthermore, delivering pristine items and other goods helps your clients build trust and faith with your company.
