Web Summit Creates MachineCon in Las Vegas!

by Startacus Admin
As though we could be any more in awe of the work that they do, the guys and gals at Web Summit have surprised us once again, with the announcement of the latest addition to their family of tech events…MachineCon which will be springing to life in Las Vegas this September.
This characteristically ambitious new conference will bring together the most exciting hardware startups from around the world, along with some of the most respected names in the industry, many of whom were at Web Summit in November.
A Little Web Summit History
Hand’s down Web Summit is our favourite startup / technology event in the world, not only because of its fresh, fun, colourful approach to what was quite a stuffy arena, but because their rise to global success from humble beginnings is one that resonates with or community and their can-do ethos.
WebSummit began in 2010 as little more than an informal meet-up of 450 members of Dublin’s tech community.
Within three years it had become the most influential and international tech event in Europe.
Last year it reached biblical proportions with over 22,000 attendees from all corners of the globe flocking to Dublin to soak up the technological carnival that is Web Summit. Two members of the Startacus team attended in 2014, you can read about their experiences here (Eoin at the Web Summit) and here (Niall at the Web Summit)
Just weeks after the big news that they have created 2 fab sister conferences to take place in Belfast this June, this latest announcement adds yet another fascinating string to their already ample bow.
MachineCon
MachineCon will be a global showroom for developments in consumer technology, robotics, wearables, drones, and everything else you can think of!
Having asked attendees last year, what they would like to see taken as the topic of a standalone conference, 3 answers came out on top; enterprise, payments, and the internet of things. Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave explains:
“The Internet of Things is exploding. Apple Watch launched yesterday. Cars are being revolutionised. Sensors are appearing everywhere. Drones are taking to the skies across the planet. And at Web Summit in November it was our biggest growth sector. So we’re excited”.
We’re excited too Paddy!
The first ever MachineCon will take place in Las Vegas on 8th and 9th of September 2015.
Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but you can pre-register for them now and take advantage of a special 2-for-1 discount code!
