WaytoB - from A to B made easy

by Startacus Admin
waytoB - The Tech For Good startup, helping those with higher support needs, get from A to B.

The Dublin Tech For Good startup has taken existing technology - smartphones and smartwatches - and built an app to use in conjunction with them. The idea of the app is to be as easy to use as possible, sending simple directions in symbol form to the watch or phone, based on real-time location and orientation data.
These symbols ensure the navigation process is as stress-free and simple as possible.
The other side of the app is for the carer. On their side of the platform, the carer can input the route with customisation such as where to turn and when to cross the road. These routes and instructions are integrated with public transport, too, adding another layer of useability.
The carer can see that the user is safe at all times with the app’s location tracking, whilst also receiving notifications about specific journey events.
As well as location, the app tracks the user’s heart rate, so the carer can keep an eye on their stress levels, and key performance measures on the user’s activity. And for the eventuality that the user does encounter issues, there is a panic button on both their and the carer’s side of the app.
waytoB is justifiably the recipient of a host of awards, including the James Dyson Irish Award 2017, Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund 2018, and the Tech4Good People’s Choice award. This is a very important and empowering platform, and we don’t think they’ll have any trouble navigating their way to success!
