Vodafone 5G Global Challenge seeks pioneering startups

by Startacus Admin

Vodafone are currently looking to identify 100 pioneering startups from across the globe, to utilise and profit from the new capabilities of 5G. If you are a startup with a market deployed solution or prototype, that can benefit from the use of 5G, this might be the challenge for you!
From media, entertainment & gaming, automotive, Industry 4.0 (ie. automation and data exchange in manufacturing tech), healthcare and smart cities solutions, the Vodafone team are looking for game-changing propositions, with the opportunity for the top 20 in each category sector to showcase at innovation festival Unbound London in July and the chance to be selected to pitch on stage.
Headline Partner at Unbound London, Vodafone have more than 470 million mobile customers, 14 million fixed broadband customers and 9.8 million TV customers.
5G is the coming-soon, next-generation network, robust and powerful enough to support the advanced applications Vodafone are striving for – think connected homes, driverless cars, augmented reality, and so on.
Startups looking to apply to the Vodafone 5G Global Challenge should consider how 5G will improve their market deployed solution or prototype and also how this solution will utilities 5G.
Applications to this and other opportunities can be found via colinked.io, a new community where corporates, founders and investors can connect, learn & collaborate, and which aims to address the challenge that many corporates have in finding and engaging with well qualified and pre-vetted startups.
Founders will need to register for free onto the platform, where they can then apply to various sector corporate challenges, programmes, events and competitions, connect with corporates and communities and find tools and services to help their business grow with programmes.
For example, alongside the Vodafone opportunity, colinked are also currently aiding United Utilities in their search for innovative companies to apply for a 10-week Lab programme to help United Utilities develop their systems thinking plans and improve service performance.
Here, startups focused on connecting customers, empowering knowledgeable colleagues, improving data management and the future of water, encouraged to apply. Last year saw 7 companies participate in the United Utilities Innovation Lab and they were drawn from 6 different countries. Of these companies, 3 have already gone onto commercial collaboration!
For the details, criteria and to apply to this and the Vodafone 5G Global Challenge (and any other Corporate challenge) visit www.colinked.io, scroll to the bottom of the page login or register on the platform.
You will then be able to apply to this via the Programs tab on the Colinked platform, where you’ll need to answer a number of questions and upload a pitch deck.
The closing date for applications to the Vodafone 5G Global Challenge is April 20th, 2019 at 12am (GMT) and the closing date for the United Utilities Innovation Lab is midday 15 April 2019 (GMT).
For other corporate challenges via colinked, make sure to visit the colinked programs page where future tech startup opportunities for various industry sectors and verticals will be listed.
