Virtually Visiting - the 360 video travel platform

by Startacus Admin
Virtually Visiting is an online platform enabling users to experience their dream destination from the comfort of their own home via immersive 360 video tours.
How many times have you had cause to look up a location in Google street view, perhaps out of simple curiosity of what another part of the world looks like, and found yourself lost for a while digitally touring that little town in Tuscany or treading the dusty roads of Nowheresville, USA, fascinated by the daily life of this foreign place while you sit listening to the rain? Just us?
We can’t always afford - in money or time - to take a holiday, and we might only be vaguely curious about a place anyway, so what if we could save our time and money for a holiday we really want while still being able to visit other places on our lunch break?
East Midlands-based startup Virtually Visiting has created a way to do this, in a manner somewhat given away by the name. By working with local tour guides all around the world, the startup gives you access to the same kind of guided tour of a location that you would get if you were physically there. And because those partners also film every part of the tour with a 360-degree camera, you can look around and take in the sights, either in your video player or even put on a VR headset and almost feel like you are there. Of course, because you’re not physically there, you don’t have to worry about your carbon footprint, mosquitos, or being too unfit to hike through that ancient forest.
Whether you want to see the Australian bush, the bamboo forests of Japan, the ancient temples and monuments of India, the gothic cathedrals of Spain, or anywhere else in their growing library of 30 countries, these tours start from as little as $1, and last around 20 minutes. This, along with being viewable from desktop, VR headset, or - soon - mobile, means that you literally can travel the world during your lunch break.
Currently, Virtually Visiting is in the process of raising funding on Seedrs, and has raised 91% of its £180,000 goal, with 13 days left at the time of writing.
