Veremark - employee background checking and screening made easy

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on Veremark, the London-based startup that's created an automated digital first solution to help employers and recruiters with pre-employment candidate screening
Some of us are familiar with slightly exaggerating our CVs to make ourselves sound a bit better. Spent a lot of time browsing Twitter at work? You’re a social media specialist. Once corrected a spelling mistake before a press release went out? You’re a copywriter. It is perhaps not the wisest thing to do, but credential fraud gets a lot worse than that, with people faking PhDs and other degrees.
For the employer, inaccurate credentials like this could potentially be a disaster, both on the financial and the regulatory fronts. So what is needed is some way of quickly and easily verifying the credentials of potential hires to avoid this issue.
London-based HR-tech startup Veremark has created a platform to do just this, and lets you know with just a few clicks if your potential hire’s credentials can be trusted.
The employer can easily request an international background check on their candidates, and the platform sends through the necessary requests to that candidate, who then uploads the data and documents required, all compliant with data privacy requirements like GDPR. The platform then cross-references with government records, named referees and verifiers, and other data sources to verify the information, and then delivers a report back to the employer in an easy to read layout. A Career Passport is created for that candidate on Veremark, and is blockchain-verified to ensure credentials remain secure and auditable. This creates, they say, a compliant document which can assist in future checking decisions and remove unnecessary rechecks.
Veremark says that they have saved employers over 50% in delays and costs with their platform, and their 800% growth in the last year suggests that word is spreading that this startup is the one to go to. In September, Veremark announced that it had raised $2.8 million in a seed round from global investors. The funding will be used to extend its reach within the pre-employment screening market.
