Vegan food business The Brook tastes crowdfunding success

by Startacus Admin

Vegan food business, The Brook funds 130% in their first three days of its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, with the funds raised going towards launching a new vegan home delivery service, enabling 1000's more people to enjoy nutritious and flavour-packed plant-based meals.
Currently, despite a reported 3.5m people following a plant-based diet in the UK and 42% of the population being committed to reducing their consumption of meat and dairy, only 3% of convenience meals in supermarkets are plant-based.
Step forward The Brook, an award-winning vegan restaurant, which having started life 5 years ago as a small community cafe, has grown and evolved, providing vegan themed events, pop-ups, and now a coming-soon vegan food delivery service.
On a mission to make plant-based dining simple, accessible and of course tasty, the team ventured into equity crowdfunding via Seedrs, and within the first three days had raised 130% of their campaign target, with the investment now to be used to launch it's new home delivery service.
Investor, Marie Steinthaler, explains why she decided to back The Brook: 'I'm not vegan, but I've been to the restaurants and found the food really delicious. The growth stats in the vegan food market right now are impressive and, having seen Thea put her mind to something, I have full confidence that her and the team will succeed.'
The growth stats for vegan food are indeed inmpressive, with the UK alone generating more than £4.7bn in vegan sales, making the investment in The Brook, not just an ethical one, but a wise business decision for the 240 investors to date.
We look forward to seeing how their coming-soon food delivery service takes the business further forward, and congrats to The Brook team for their success to date!
