Unusual Inventions - Bug-A-Salt

by Startacus Admin
So far, we have highlighted some unusual inventions - from the pet rock, the cardboard bicycle to the twitter hashtag, but we think this one might just trump the lot. Unusual in the sense that the creator was able to crowdfund over $577,000 recently on indiegogo and unusual, since you really do have to wonder how the devil this invention first came about!
Bug-A-Salt is a salt loading gun that is used to kill flies. Whilst this may perhaps sound a little sadistic, let’s be honest, there aren't too many of us that don’t swat an odd fly every now and again. However, we do wonder how inventor Lorenzo Maggiore first came up with and then designed his Bug-A-Salt gun?!
That aside, when Lorenzo added his $15,000 target onto IndieGoGo, he could not have imagined how sought after or viral his fly killing gun idea would become. You can work out the maths yourself, but having currently raised many %’s more than his initial goal, Lorenzo has plenty of orders to get this business fully functional over the coming months.
Whilst Startacus loves all creatures equally, check out the IndieGoGo promo video below, if you fancy seeing the fly killing gun in full action. This is another invention that would have been great to see on Dragons’ Den. What would those pesky Dragons have thought of Lorenzo had he entered the show...
