unplugged - the startup that wants to help you go off-grid

by Startacus Admin
unplugged is a startup that's on a mission to help you unplug from your devices so that you can completely recharge.
The idea of ‘unplugging’ from social media, the internet in general, and spending time in the real world is one that we’ve all had a smug friend suggest to us while we try to answer a hundred work emails over lunch. These people have cleverly discovered the elusive key to inner peace and tranquility, and definitely aren’t regurgitating a suggestion that’s been floating around as long as email or social media and is easier said than done.
But no matter how much we may want to pour the dregs of our coffee into their salad and walk away, they aren’t wrong. Always being connected is stressful and can contribute a lot to burn out, no matter how much you may love what you do.
London-based startup Unplugged was created for just this reason. Unplugged gives you a 3-day digital detox in which you travel to one of their cabins, an hour or two outside London, and lock your phone away behind a padlock for 72 hours (the cabins do have their own phones just in case), and relax, read, relax around a fire, connect with nature, and relax.
Without the stress of constant push notifications and feeling the need to answer just one more email before bed, and the excuse of your phone being literally locked away where you physically can’t use it, you will slow down and relax in a way you simply can’t with devices all around you, and you’ll sleep better. The cabins sleep 2, so if you take someone with you, you’ll have 3 dedicated days without distraction to connect.
In 2021, Unplugged secured a loan from Virgin StartUp to help them get their first cabin in place and start marketing and, although the pandemic pushed their plans back, it was only by a month, and they launched in July.
Although the startup was inspired by a 2-week stay in the Himalayas, a 3-day staycation outside London is more viable for a lot of people, and will help many destress, relax, and recharge.
