by Startacus Admin

Nine times out of ten, when you find yourself on a 404 page, it’s probably a forgettable experience and you’re pretty quick and nimble to leave it and get to where you’re actually supposed to go.

That however is not always the case. You may remember our little post from a couple of weeks ago, where we outlined what we believe makes the best, most creative 404 page. It’s clear that some companies use their error page as an excuse to have some fun and bring a little bit of personality to something that is usually quite boring.

Well, we did some browsing, and we’ve decided to show you some of the best, most creative 404 pages on the web!

Alison House

This clever little gem comes from designer Alison House, and it’s best if you watch it live since the text actually gets typed across the screen to give the illusion that you’re having a conversation.

Blue Fountain Media

Fans of retro gaming will like this one, once you stumble across Blue Fountain Media’s 404 page, you’ll be able to play Pac-Man (and will likely waste hours doing so!)

BedMap

There’s nothing like a clever reference to grab someone’s attention -- here’s another clever play on the Back to the Future franchise, from BedMap.

Good Dog Design

The clever folks over at Good Dog Design have created an error page that pokes fun at their “missing” mascot - a dog that is usually found in the yellow circle on the website’s header. Do we get an award if we find him?

Brand Crowd

The impressive illustration from Brand Crowd pretty much sums up what we all think when we first stumble across a 404 page…

Blue Daniel

This 404 page is extremely creative and would definitely encourage visitors to return to the website. It’s best viewed live as it is interactive. Just make sure you click on the train doors to fully appreciate it.

We hope you enjoyed these 404 pages! There are of course a lot more out there - the internet is a big place after all! So don’t be afraid to let us know of any other pages that you’ve come across, or maybe you have your own that you’d like to show off?
