Top 3 Ways to Optimize Your Workday

by Startacus Admin
If you are looking for some simple ways to optimize your workday and keep on track, these basic tips should help you do just that
Most people’s jobs are from 9-5, which is a pretty long time to be doing one thing. It is really easy to fall into the cycle of procrastination, particularly when you are feeling uninspired and want the day to go quicker. To not think about work seems like a much easier option than to have to buckle down. However, we all have a list of tasks that need doing, and putting them off just means you will have to do them at another point. If you are looking for some simple ways to optimize your workday and keep on track, take a look at the following tips.
Make A Tick List
If you make a tick list of all the tasks you need to do and you begin to work through them one by one, you will get a greater sense of achievement compared to if you simply work on things aimlessly, without knowing what you have done in what timeframe. Come up with a list of things that you want to complete that day and write them down – after you have completed one of them you can then highlight it, which will feel very satisfying.
When you are making a tick list, you can try to block out your time so that you know what you should be working on at which point of the day. This also avoids the day feeling repetitive and monotonous. Instead, a sense of change can be applied and you won’t feel as though you are just drowning in work.
Keep Yourself Energized
If you want to optimize the day, you have to be on your optimum energy levels for this to work effectively. There are so many simple ways that you can keep yourself energized and ensure that you aren’t dozing off.
The first thing you should do is to make sure you have had a healthy, substantial breakfast, which will keep you full throughout the day. Rather than having something sugary, you should have something that is high in carbohydrates and protein, which will give you long-lasting, slow-release energy. People often make the mistake of having something too sugary in the hope that they will get energy from it, but in reality, sugar makes you crash, so this is not sustainable.
You should also try and incorporate some exercise into your day, even if this just consists of having a walk around the park during your lunch break. This will keep you feeling refreshed and ready to get back to work.
Don’t Over Commit
Not over-committing to tasks is really important, as it will actually end up counterbalancing your progress. It is often difficult to say no to things when somebody asks you to do a favor, but unless you can realistically fit it into your schedule, you should avoid saying yes to too many things and risk not finishing on time. Instead, you should prioritize your own tasks and then If you end up having a bit of spare time, you can take on some extra ones. This is definitely a better way of doing it – rather than committing to too much at once and having to let someone down as a result.
A lot of what is required to have a productive work day is based on your own motivation levels, which can be altered depending on how you go about your daily activities. It is easy to get into the mindset of boredom, in which case you probably won’t end up achieving much, but with a little bit of a push and some fun snacks to help you along the way, work can be both fun and productive.
