Top 10 Crowdfunding Sites
by Startacus Admin
Crowdcube
The Crowdcube platform is aimed at entrepreneurs who require a minimum of £10k to realise their project. This is another site which offers equity crowdfunding. Listing a project normally requires paying a £250 fee although this is currently being waived. All successful projects are charged a 5% fee, which again is very much the industry norm for crowdfunding platforms.
Seedrs
The Seedrs platform can be used by any new UK startup who wishes to raise equity capital. All types of business ideas are welcomed - from tech startups to traditional type business ventures. Investors can pledge anything from £10 upwards in return for equity in your business and if your business successfully reaches its target, Seedrs charges a 7.5% fee.
Sponsume Crowdfunding
This global platform is aimed primarily at the creative sectors and welcomes projects from areas as diverse as photography to theatre and gaming. Unlike most of the other platforms on the list, you do not need to reach your target to get any monies raised. In fact as soon as someone backs you, you will immediately receive the funds. If you do reach your target, Sponsume Crowdfunding only then charges a fee - a 4% fee on the amount raised.
Sponsorcraft
If education is your thing, this is the platform that could help. Projects must be created by a student ( aged 16+) or an employee of a school, college or university. All types of projects requiring all levels of funding will be considered by Sponsorcraft, however the main stipulation is that the project itself must directly benefit students. As with many of the sites on this list, a 5% fee is charged should a project reach its required funding target.
Pleasefundus
The Pleasefundus mission is to be “ a platform for brilliant ideas to get funded.” The site currently helps a variety of types of projects - from inventions to computer gaming and fashion - to raise the funds they need to make the projects a reality. Peoplefundus welcomes projects from anywhere in the world and currently charges a 5% fee for any projects that get successfully funded.
