Tootoot gives a voice to children and young people

Tootoot is an innovative app providing students with a safe, anonymous environment to report and resolve any bullying or mental health concerns discretely

In this more connected world where parents are giving their children full access to social media, phones, and tablets, bullying easily follows them home and ensures that they have nowhere to escape from it. Insidious, continuous bullying can have a significant impact on schoolwork, on their behaviour, on their budding social lives, on their mental health. And in far too many cases, it can result in children taking their own lives.
Manchester-based startup Tootoot has created an app for students to safely and confidentially report not only bullying incidents but any mental health concerns or problems at home.
Reports are anonymous, meaning that the students can report incidents without fear of things escalating beyond their control and inviting repercussions. For the students, using the app is much the same as simply sending a text message, and the staff that receive it can respond in a similar way.
Staff can create incident reports that can be added to a case file on a particular student, so you can see an overview of that child’s behaviour patterns and history of reports against them. As well as being able to respond to reports quickly and in real time, the app allows you to implement evidence-based interventions with the confidence provided by data insights on what does and does not work.
The platform also allows you the ability to measure wellbeing within your school by asking a question and receiving feedback from everyone to monitor the mood and wellbeing of students, staff, and parents.
At the end of 2019, Tootoot announced a successful close to a £600k investment round, which included £290k raised by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and GC Angels. This money is being used to expand the platform’s reach and to bring on more staff.
