Product designers take note - this one's for you! Threedium has created a 3D product configuration and visualisation platform...

Seeing a realistic 3D representation of the product and turning it this way and that to scrutinise it from every angle is the next best thing to seeing it in person, which in this age of online shopping is often not possible.

But not every business has the know-how or the resources to build 3D models and render them and output it all in such a way as to be this interactive. Hiring additional employees whose sole job is to do this will often be a waste of time and money, so the solution is to simply outsource to experts. Or perhaps take advantage of ready-to-use 3D models on a platform designed to be simple.

London-based tech startup Threedium is both of these things. They have developed a 3D product configuration and visualisation platform to help their clients build a more engaging online experience that gives users as close to a life-like sense of the products they are viewing as possible, thus increasing user engagement and click-through rate. They say that, in September, they demonstrated their value with the relaunch of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, which generated a 15% CTR, versus the usual average of 1%.

And you would be in good company, as Threedium has already worked with the likes of BMW, Starbucks, Argos, Sainsbury’s, and more. The platform also allows for these models to be used in augmented reality, so a company could choose to allow users to see their products in-situ around the house.

This month, Threedium announced that they have raised a €1 million seed round led by High-Tech Grunderfonds. It will use this investment to advance its 3D SaaS platform and expand into Germany, the US, and other European markets. So the next time you take a virtual tour of your potential new car or spin that watch around for a look at the back, it may be thanks to Threedium.
