The Young Illustrators Award 2012

by Startacus Admin
If illustration or design is your thing, the Young Illustrators Award ought to be on your radar. This world renowned competition seeks to reward the most creative and innovative talent in the illustration and graphics fields and to help that talent get a profile in the global design world.
This year's competition is seeking out new talent in 3 main categories :
- Illustration including Pattern Design
- Animation and
- Book Illustration or Book Art
Who can apply?
Well, despite the "Young" title, the award is not aimed at those of a certain age group but it instead refers to talent that is new and fresh!
Eligible applicants include:
- Illustrators
- Visual Artists
- Pattern Designers
- Book Artists or Book Illustrators
- Graphic Artists
- Comic Artists
- Animation Artists or Character Designers
- Draftsmen
- Graphic Designers
What can be submitted and when?
Any art and installation project with graphic influences, illustrative art work, animation or book art can be submitted for the award in the form of either images, book art objects or animated films. All entries must be submitted by 31st October 2012 and winners will be chosen in each of the categories on 20th November 2012.
What can be won?
Well, the prizes are pretty special. The first 30 nominees of the Award will be invited to Berlin and be given the opportunity to showcase their work at Illustrative 2013. The first 3 winners will receive prizes worth 6000 Euro as well as publication and illustration agency contracts, together with the opportunity to be featured in future international exhibitions. And there is an extra special bonus too. 3 of the 30 nominees will have their travel expenses paid and be invited to live and work for a 3 month period at the 'Direktorenhaus' exhibition space in Berlin. All art that is developed during that 3 month period will then be featured in a special future exhibition.
Pretty good, don't you think? Certainly worthwhile giving it a shot....
