The Workary wants to help make public libraries work

by Startacus Admin
We are liking the sound of The Workary, a group of co-working spaces across London that support public libraries by transforming under-utilised space into affordable 'work' & 'life' spaces for local startups, entrepreneurs and residents.
Facilitated by London based Wimbletech CIC, this social impact project works in partnership with local Councils to transform under-utilised library space into dynamic, affordable, co-working and start-up space.
Shared and dedicated affordable desk space can currently be taken at 9 London locations covered by the project and those who don’t need a desk can still benefit from a network of 350+ startups and co-workers. Members can also benefit from peer-to-peer support, events and experts-in-residence. Starting at £65 per month, you have to agree it's certainly a good low-cost alternative.
Supporting local public library space, The Workary can help generating a sustainable revenue source for a library, increasing footfall and in turn creating a new relevance to library space or perhaps another under-utilised public space that in recent years have become under threat of closer.
Whilst bespoke and high-quality co-working space demand continues to rise, a more local, lower-spec and social-good approach to matching demand with underused public space can only be a good thing - and an alternative, affordable option for many a very early stage startup and freelancer who may want to keep costs low but want to benefit from being based in a co-working type environment.
High-5 to all involved.
