The Web Summit takes flight to Vegas

by Startacus Admin
Whilst it appears that details are still being finalised, it seems that the good folk from the Dublin Web Summit (née The Web Summit / The Summit) appear to be on a collision path with the stateside Tech and Startup scene…
What we know so far: Called Collision. Organised by Paddy Cosgrove and the Summit team. May. Las Vegas. Big Tech Conference. Chance for startups to have to have an exhibition stand….and for free.
So all your folk, stateside and otherwise who need a little history on the The Web Summit team, this is a brief rundown on what they’ve been about so far…
Well...The Web Summit is a pretty big Tech themed conference based in Dublin that first took place in 2010. And, like all exceptional organically run and growing communities, it has developed from a rather small (but still pretty impressive) 500 attendees to approx 10,000 attendees in 2013, making it one of the top and biggest tech / startup themed events in Europe. Alongside the original Web Summit, the organisers also run F.ounders, and The Europas. We had the pleasure of being invited to attend Web Summit 2013 last year, and it was great to see so much going on and the tremendous wealth of talent and speakers on show.
So if you’re a startup and want to get involved, how can you?
Firstly, the overall aim is to bring 150 young startup companies together in one big room and then get them to share their stories, business models, plans and innovations, and ‘Collide’ with a top selection of investors, media, and leading entrepreneurs who can help take their businesses on to that all important ‘next level’.
Of course, unless you are based in Vegas, there are gonna be some costs, and whilst the $9,950 exhibition stand cost is waived for the 150 startups, you’ll still need to pay for two conference tickets, and travel expenses, so make sure you do your sums before applying.

As soon as more event details are released, we’ll of course report back, and, of course if any mystery benefactors fancy paying for a few tickets for the Startacus team to travel to Vegas to review said Collision, well we’re all ears ;)If you like what you see here on Startacus, why not become a member of our growing community?
