The Startup that will pay for your wedding

by Startacus Admin
We have seen some unusual Startup business models in our time but this one pushes the level of anything even we have come across.
The innocuously named SwanLuv gives away free weddings for ever-lasting marriages, but it’ll cost you big if you ever get a divorce.
The team behind Swan Love have created the oddly structured startup in response to the increasingly transient nature of relationship, spurred on in part by the proliferation of dating apps such as Tinder.
Soon-to-be married couples can apply to receive USD 10,000 towards their wedding, with no strings attached- well that is providing they stay together forever.
It’s actually a pretty simple concept. The whole thing works something like an investment scheme, accept you don’t pay-in unless you breach contract to stay together forever. If that happens then you will be required to pay back the group’s initial investment in your marriage (plus interest) with this money being used to fund future weddings.
Couples can apply online for free, and will be selected based on a number of criteria, which includes the use of a social media algorithm that determines a couple's likelihood of staying together for the long-haul!
Although some might question the morality of a startup that uses a financial incentive to prevent miserable couples from accessing a divorce, and others will wonder about the profitability of such an idea should the divorce rate fall below the much quoted 50% mark, but you have to admit its a pretty nifty idea!
SwanLuv will be launching in February 2016, and we predict rather alot of enthusiastic discussion ahead!
