The Social Innovation Tournament

by Startacus Admin
If you’ve got an idea or are involved in a project that has social innovation at its very core, then the European Investment Bank Institute’s latest initiative would be well worth a look.
The underlying aim of the Social Innovation Tournament is to help entrepreneurs across Europe with ideas and projects which have a social, ethical or environmental impact as their primary goal.
Although projects can be varied - ranging from innovative solutions to tackling unemployment through to ideas which help address health-care challenges - the objectives are always the same in that they are all about creating practical solutions to real problems.
The great thing about the Social Innovation Tournament is its all inclusiveness - whether you’re a student, a startup or even part of a corporate body, you are eligible to apply, provided you are based in one of the EU member states and your idea fits the bill in terms of its ethos.
Speaking of ideas, if all you have at this point is an idea, that’s fine. Likewise, if you have perhaps already developed something and it’s working out well, you can apply too!
Ideas at all stages of a project cycle are welcomed - the thinking being that even those that have already been developed could be held up as ‘ideal’ models which could be replicated in other areas.
This year there are 3 main prizes up for grabs.
Within the General Category, there are 1st and 2nd prizes of €25,000 and €10,000 and also a Special Category prize of €25,000 - the Special Category is for projects which address equal opportunities issues and have a special emphasis on people with disabilities.
If you’re interested in applying, you’ve got until 21st March to do so - simply complete the online application form and then get those fingers crossed!
Best of luck to any of you who enter!
