The Pitch 2013

by Startacus Admin
The folks over at The Pitch put it quite simply. If you have a brilliant business or business idea, then you really need to be part of Britain’s biggest small business competition. Yes that’s right - if all you have is an idea at present, you can enter too. Here’s the lowdown on the competition which incidentally is now in its 6th year!
Who can enter?
Well, if you are aged 16+, have a privately owned company which is UK based and has been established for less than 3 years, you are eligible to apply. And...if you’ve got an idea but aren’t yet trading, you can apply to - your entry will be put into its own category of ‘One to Watch.’
What’s involved?
Firstly, to apply, simply request an application form from The Pitch site and complete and submit it before the deadline of 11.59pm on Sunday 30 June.
The judging panel will then shortlist up to 50 applicants to compete at The Pitch Live event in Bristol on 25th September, with up to 10 of those coming from the One to Watch category. During this event, contestants will pitch to a live audience and the panel of expert judges. 5 contestants will then be selected to compete in the grand final which takes place that evening when an overall winner will be selected.
Incidentally there’s another opportunity for recognition. All shortlisted applicants will also be provided with personal profile pages which they can share online to try and secure votes for The Pitch 2013 Social Media Award - the applicant with the most votes will understandably be the winner!
What’s on offer?
The Pitch winner this year will receive prizes worth thousands of pounds - everything from an iPad through to mentoring and financial advice.
Also this year, there is an Investment Panel who have an fund of at least £25k which they will be seeking to invest in businesses that meet their criteria and which they feel show real growth potential.
It’s not just the businesses who win or receive investment who will benefit from The Pitch though - the live event will feature presentations, workshops and networking opportunities galore!
Of course we haven’t even mentioned the brand awareness and promotion that your business could potentially receive simply by being shortlisted!
So, go on then, what’s stopping you? Get that application started today.
