The Mollie Makes Handmade Awards

by Startacus Admin
If you’re the crafty sort, you’ll no doubt be familiar with Mollie Makes - one of the most popular magazines for lovers of all things craft and handmade.
A bit like ourselves, they’re fond of showcasing creative people doing their own thing - and regularly feature some of the best designers and makers out there.
This year they’re going a little further and with the recently launched Mollie Makes Handmade Awards, they’re aiming to celebrate all those self starters who are slowly but surely turning their creative passions for the handmade into something much more.
Could you be one of those celebrated self starters?
Well - here’s what you need to know…
To qualify for the awards, you must have handcrafted an item - entirely - by yourself. No kits. No help. No cheating.
There are 5 Award categories in all:
The Youth Award
This is for you if you’re a creative entrepreneur, aged between 18-25 or under and if you have not yet started a business.
The Start Up Award
This award is aimed at ‘handmade’ businesses which have been established for less than two years.
The Established Business Award
If your 'handmade' business has been on the go for more than two years, this is the one for you.
The Social Enterprise Award
If you’ve got a business with a real ethical or social purpose at its core, this is the category for you.
The Creative Idea Award
Innovation and exceptional creativity are what’s required for entrants in this category
Once you’ve identified which category you best fit into, simply complete the online entry form on the Mollie Makes site. All entries must be in by May 25th so you’ve got a few weeks yet to apply.
There are a range of prizes on offer for the lucky winners - from mentoring sessions through to cash prizes. Add to that all the PR and promo that the winners will receive from the Mollie Makes folk and you can see that if handmade is your ‘thing’, this is one comp not to miss.
Good luck to any of you who apply! We’ll be rooting for ya!
