The Market Mogul crowdsources the whole news story

by Startacus Admin
While some traditional news media continues to maintain its integrity, many other industry outlets resort more and more to click-bait, sensationalist headlines, and questionable, biased reporting. It can be and has been argued that such traditional media is failing both its own industry and us, the consumer.
Add to this their digital-age struggle with monetisation, and the market is left wide open for up and coming disruptors.
One such disruptor is millennial media company The Market Mogul, described as already being ‘The Economist of tomorrow’ by a former executive director of Goldman Sachs (also a shareholder in The Market Mogul).
What powers The Market Mogul is its growing team of over 3000 diverse authors, allowing the platform to put out a large amount of content and give not only different views of the same issue, but also different perspectives from all over the world. For example, you may not have thought too much about how Brexit might affect other countries, let alone other continents, but one of the first articles we saw when browsing was about how Brexit will affect Africa.
Authors don’t just write whatever they want and throw it on the site, though. Each one must first apply and their application is reviewed by the core TMM team, which includes award-winning journalist Andreea Groenendijk-Deveau, TMM’s chief content officer. The team looks for authors they think can be the thought leaders of tomorrow, so that only the best articles find their way to The Market Mogul site.
Founded by Rav Singh Sandhu, The Market Mogul already has investors from the likes of Goldman Sachs, First State Investments, and a VC fund backed by Investec Bank, but as part of their philosophy of putting the reader first, they are also looking for people to own a part of the company by investing via Crowdcube.
With 18 days left (at time of writing) they have already raised 122% of their crowdfunding target. We think they’re going to do all right.
