The Local Business Accelerators Campaign

by Startacus Admin
When you are starting a business, getting your name out there is a pretty important task and one which can be quite costly at times. However thanks to a recently launched initiative, that needn’t necessarily be the case.
Over 500 regional newspapers across the UK have joined forces with Business In You to create a £15 million boost for promising young businesses through free advertising and mentoring. Fronted by Dragons’ Den’s Deborah Meaden, the Local Business Accelerators initiative offers small businesses aged between one and five years old the opportunity to win a free ad campaign in their local paper as well as dedicated mentoring support from local business leaders.
The businesses that are deemed to be the most promising will then go forward to a national competition and the winner of that will win a local ad campaign devised by a top London creative agency and also a year’s mentoring from Deborah Meaden.
The initiative also ran last year and was won by Yorkshire based Ilkley Brewery. The impact that winning has had on them has been pretty impressive - their orders have doubled and they have also expanded their workforce. Proper proven results then!
If your business is still young enough to enter, you can do so by completing the application on the Local Business Accelerators site. All entries must be received by November 16th. With a prize like that on offer, surely it’s worth a few minutes of your time entering...and if you do...best of luck!
