The latest IC Tomorrow Digital Innovation Contest

by Startacus Admin
Have you got an idea for digital innovation in data? Need a little help getting it to the next step? Then you’re in the right place. Here at Startacus we’ve got some news that you’ll be interested in.
IC Tomorrow together with industry partners, Ingram Content Group, EE Limited, Ordnance Survey, Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust and British Library are looking for innovative commercial solutions.
The Challenge
There’ll be £125,000 on offer with five individual companies each being awarded £25,000 for the development of a service or application under five challenge areas – one award is available in each of the following categories:
Processing data efficiently – Partner: Ingram Content Group
This challenge seeks ways in which ebook sales data can be more efficiently harvested and presented to book publishers.
Commercialisation of mobile data – Partner: EE Limited
The challenge here is for new applications, tools and services to help realise the value of the data gathered by telecommunications companies.
Geospatial data mapping – Partner: Ordnance Survey
This challenge investigates the feasibility of implementing a next-generation 3D building data layer for location-based services within a mobile platform.
Data visualisation and analytic decision making – Partner: Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust
This challenge seeks a visualisation tool to help commissioners of health services to navigate this challenging landscape and make strategic decisions to deliver a sustainable integrated healthcare system.
Value of public-domain data – Partner: British Library
This challenge is to encourage and establish the necessary feedback to measure the use and impact of public-domain content available through existing online platforms.
Not that we think you will need any more encouragement (if you are all into digital innovation in data that is!) but there are plenty of other benefits to this comp apart from the money! Each successful applicant will retain their intellectual property – but also will:
-
Gain from exposure to a range of industry partners
-
Be able to test their application of service with relevant industry partner
-
Promote your solution via the IC tomorrow programme
-
Receive support in resolving delivery issues related to the proposed solution.
The contest is open to EU-based startups and SMEs; it isn’t necessary to have an existing app or service to apply, or to be currently active in the challenge sectors.
One more thing - we don’t want to worry you guys, but the closing date for applications is Wednesday 7th May at noon. Time is of the essence! Finalists will be notified on the 23rd May with the final panel session on the 11th June.
So there you have it - time do some timely ‘data entry’ to get those applications in!
