The Kiosk Cafe Pops Up

From abandoned park shelter to pop up cafe - Startacus takes a look at the Kiosk Cafe...
Here at Startacus we do love highlighting a nice pop-up story - adds a little inspiration to the day - don’t you agree?
So this week we thought it would be nice to highlight the development of an abandoned park shelter in Bethnal Green, London that has become known as The Kiosk Cafe.
Of course, as with many restoration / pop up projects the pictures paint the real success story, so we’ll keep our words brief and to the point.
Originally the Kiosk Cafe was a park shelter in Bethnal Green Gardens - but sadly the art deco style building fell into disrepair and was (like many other art deco buildings) abandoned for a number of decades.
However, over the last year, a group of local London residents who are passionate about both food and community worked with the council to bring the building back to life as a pop-up café. The local residents not only restored the building, but created a space that added real value to their local community.
Hosting 6 special events this summer in collaboration with the rather fab We are Pop Up, they will not only sell their usual ice creams, cakes and coffee but also provide a wider offering of themed and foodie events. Impressive and inspiring!
Since we love nothing more than inspirational self starter folk doing their thing, we just had to help spread the word about the Kiosk Cafe collective - and offer them a virtual high five too!
Why not find out a little more about the Kiosk Cafe and how you can help them with their renovation and community plans? And of course check out the gallery of pics below for a little added motivation...
