The Invisible Girlfriend / Invisible Boyfriend app

by Startacus Admin
It seems that in recent times not a day goes by when we don't stumble across a startup that makes us put down our chai mocha double frappe cappuccinos in disbelief . ‘Can this be for real? Surely they are joking?’ and ‘Why.. just why?’ can be heard as bewildered co-workers gather about a computer screen, collectively searching for some shred of evidence which might betray the startup’s true purpose i.e. playful trickery. Such a startup is Invisible Girlfriend / Invisible Boyfriend. Thats not to say that we don't think this is a marvellously clever idea, its just rather bizarre.
Invisible Girlfriend and Invisible Boyfriend are a couple of new apps that will afford single people, who are tired of societal pressures to pair-up, a way to appease family and friends by giving the appearance that they are in a happy and well functioning relationship.
Those who find themselves perpetually at the business end of cupid’s arrow will be able to avail of the apps services, which over time create a realistic and convincing impression that they have finally found ‘the one’. After all, they say love is blind, so why can't it be invisible too?
How does it manage this?
Well, as is the case with a real girlfriend / boyfriend you have to decide how much money you are willing to spend on them and this will determine which of three service packages that you choose. The categories (and their prices) are “Just Talking” $9.99/ month, “Getting Serious” $29.99/ month and “Almost Engaged” $49.00/ month.
The idea is that each of these packages provides tangible and (practically) indisputable real world and virtual world proof of your relationship status, through text messages, social media, phone calls, photographs and even gifts sent as a token of affection. The service even includes an ‘emergency interaction’ feature for when urgent rescue from an uncomfortable or unpleasant conversation / situation is needed.
Customers can choose their own ‘girlfriend’ or ‘boyfriend’ from an extensive library of potential love interests consisting of donated selfies from well meaning ladies and gents, and can then individualise their ‘partners’ personality and select various means of communication with them to ensure maximum believability!
If selected as an invisible special someone, Selfie donors will receive a t-shirt boasting “I’m someones invisible girlfriend/boyfriend!” as well as a brilliant story to fill any conversation lull!
In all honesty if the service works as well in practice as it does in theory, we reckon this pair could really have a good run!
However, before you skip over to pick your perfect invisible soul mate the services won't be fully up and running until December… but as always we will keep you up to date with any major developments.
