The Dealer - discounts doing good

by Startacus Admin
The problem of homelessness is an ever increasing one. In 2016 in England alone, over 4000 people were estimated to be spending each night sleeping on the streets. The number of people who may not find themselves sleeping out in the cold but are still counted as homeless reaches well into the tens of thousands. We like a tech-for-good startup, and we have found another worthy one, this time aimed at fighting homelessness in the UK.
The Dealer is a UK-based startup that offers exclusive discounts at venues in Oxford, Manchester, Liverpool, Cambridge, and Swansea through their free app. These discounts are specifically for empty seats at the venues, meaning that the venues themselves are helped out by turning their empty seats into filled seats and preventing them from losing income.
The venues only pay The Dealer when a paying customer comes in and uses a PIN from the app, and all offers and discounts are created at the venue’s discretion. In return for the savings the customer makes, The Dealer requests - but does not require - a donation to a homelessness charity. At the very least, they request, customers should ‘pay it forward’ and do some good for someone.
As well as the financial aid they give to homelessness charities, The Dealer contributes the time of its staff to the charities every week, which goes a long way to displaying how serious they are about helping to combat the homelessness problem.
And just in case you needed one more reason to check out The Dealer, they are currently running a giveaway for £1000...
