The Cloo App - an Unusual Invention (or sorts)
Well technically this isn't officially an invention since both Apps and Toilets already exist, however this wackiest of startups is looking to combine the two together. Confused? I was too!
I promised myself that this article would remain pun free, that I wouldn’t go scraping around the bowl, or take the p%&s with unnecessary jokes, but I couldn’t help it - after all there is nothing wrong with a little toilet humour is there?
The CLOO' App is based on a common problem - we all have to pee, but where? Often in busy city centres, apart from going to a cafe, buying an unwanted coffee so that you can also take a wee (sorry) stroll to the toilet, the choice of public toilets is often slim to none.
The CLOO’ App allows you to join a community of registered users who choose to share their bathrooms and make city-living easier, while earning a small profit. Using social media connections, and a Kevin Bacon “6 Degrees” approach, CLOO' shows what friends you have in common with the host, turning a stranger’s loo into a friend-of-a-friend’s loo. The stranger? Well they also receive a small transaction fee for their troubles - (not just in the bowl!)
Now in the States where this App originates, I can imagine this App potentially working and working well. However over here in the cynical hills of the UK and Ireland, the chance of using and reviewing someone else’s toilet would seem to be an opportunity to be missed! We’ll have to see though how this app goes down in the US and if it is an App that can translate across the water.
When all’s said and done though, it is potentially providing a very good solution to an altogether and often uncomfortable problem, so here at Startacus we’re giving a big high five to this wacky but innovative approach to combining technology with a basic necessity.
Not all ideas or inventions are going to change the world - but they can perhaps make it a little easier to bear! Check out the promo video below...
