Torsten Kremser is the Founder of Innovative adventure startup NomadXplore. Here Torsten writes about the benefits you can get from quitting the 9-5 and going nomadic with work instead...

"The average life. Working in a Cubical. Every morning into the same box, starring at the same wall, meeting the same colleagues, discussing the same a topics, waiting at the same coffee machine. Day in and day out.

But this doesn’t have to be you I was told. That was about 5 years ago. And once I experienced the life beyond the bubble, I never looked back.

One of the hotspots for nomadic entrepreneurs, freelancers and remote workers is Chiang Mai in Thailand. Just by walking the streets around the famous Nimman area you will meet plenty of them. Some have been living this lifestyle since years, some just starting off. It’s a wild mix of personalties and stories. Most of them left the 9-5 behind and some lucky ones never even got into it and started directly with a new life. To explore. To seek freedom. And to find purpose.

By today there are hundreds of places around the world that have become to-go spots for digital nomads and their alike. And it’s not surprising that the movement is growing rapidly. All one needs is a laptop and a good internet connection. That’s about it. And that could be anywhere from a secluded beach in Indonesia, a jungle hut in the Amazon, to a bustling city in eastern Europe.

going nomadic

You don’t even need to know anything about computers when you start off. As long as you can navigate yourself to youtube you’ll be fine. Literally thousands of videos explain the countless options to make a living online. And some don’t even want to start their own thing. They are happy with their job and just work from abroad. The internet allows us to rethink the way we have been taught our work-life should be. The box is wide open. The possibilities are countless and it doesn’t matter where you are from or where you want to go. As long as there is internet.

Over the last decade remote workers have spread across most parts of the modern world including the Americas, Europe and South-East Asia. But one (rather huge) spot stayed mostly blank. Fact is, when people think about traveling around the world, Africa is note even on the map.

Media bias and the lack of information have made Africa an unheard of travel destination for everyone but the most intrepid backpacker or luxury safari seeker. And that’s even though Africa is a dream for many.

But it’s not surprising that nomadic entrepreneurs like us, who rely on good internet, didn’t see Africa as a destination. Atop of that, we like to be surrounded by like-minds. We are a certain breed that loves to connect, to talk about dreams and ideas. Africa never seemed like it would meet such criteria. At least until now.

nomad convoy

With our innovate adventure startup NomadXplore we are picking up on exactly that. Project Nomad Convoy combines networking events with safari adventure. Bringing together like minded entrepreneurs from around the world to join together, adventure and explore the last blank spot on the map, while making powerful connections and sharing a lifetime experience together. Plus, everyone on board isn’t even off from work thanks to the worlds most advanced mobile network. Because Africa never had old and outdated landlines, instead started straight with the latest tech and mobile towers. If this convoy isn’t going to break some serious stereotypes about Africa and the 9-5 bubble, what else will."

Innovative adventure startup NomadXplore organizes a 28 day intrepid entrepreneur networking safari in Southern Africa. The “Nomad Convoy” takes off in Livingstone, Zambia on the 21st February 2017 and will make it’s way via Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia to it’s final destination Cape Town, South Africa.
