The Barclays Social Enterprise Weekends

by Startacus Admin
Could you change the world in a weekend? Well, in reality probably not, however if you have an idea that could potentially do just that then a new initiative by Barclays ought to be of interest.
Barclays are facilitating two Social Enterprise Weekends later this month, during which tech entrepreneurs and creative designers will be working together in teams to create and develop new and innovative tools to help young people manage and control their financial situations. The premise is that these tools will move from ideation stage to built product over the 54 hour period.
The events are due to be held at Google Campus, London and Radbroke Hall, Knutsford and
are pretty intensive affairs by all accounts with participants working, eating and sleeping in their location for the entire weekend period.
Of course it’s not just a random meeting of minds - during the weekend, some leading technology experts will be on hand to offer support, guidance and advice on how teams could potentially develop their ideas. People like The Next Web’s Managing Editor, Martin Bryant and Dan Lehner, Head of Ventures at Unltd.
Over the weekend one team will be selected as a winner and will receive an additional 20 hours post event support as their prize. However each team that takes part will also be able to avail of support beyond the weekend itself by being given at least one follow up meeting with some of Barclay’s own tech experts.
Tickets are still available for both the North and South events and since they’re only a matter of weeks away ( 22-24 February 2013), you’d better not delay should you want to get involved.
