TfL and six startups start work to reduce congestion in London

by Startacus Admin

Six fast-growing UK and international startups, alongside transport industry experts, are participating in a new innovation programme to help keep London moving.
A new open data programme that sees six elite startups working to reduce congestion in the capital, in partnership with TfL (Transport for London), has launched. From improving cycling experiences to using AI and visual learning to improve passenger flow, the young startups are working closely with TfL and industry experts to supercharge their businesses.
Following several hundred applications and a three-month process, including a final selection by a range of experts at TfL, each successful startup will now be working to reduce congestion on the public transport network and/or across London’s roads, and lowering levels of pollution.
By providing access to unique open data from government and industry, the programme is designed to help startups better support public sector innovation without the need for additional investment. The programme will provide the startups with a range of masterclasses, one-to-one sessions and networking opportunities. These will provide business-critical market validation and procurement knowledge to help ensure successful future collaborations in the short and long term.
Nitrous is a programme developed by Tech City Ventures that inspires and initiates effective collaboration between startups and local government. Founded upon a deep understanding of the unique issues facing both startups and local government, it enables the creators of powerful, young technologies to accelerate their engagement with the public sector.
The 6 startups participating in the programme are:
