Who launched political manifesto’s this week? Of course if you’ve in inkling into UK politics, you’ll know that the main political parties of the blue, red, yellow and green launched their manifesto’s in time for next month's general election.
However also launched this week, one manifesto stood out to team Startacus. techUK, a leading body and trade association for tech companies in the UK, decided to publish their own Digital Economy Manifesto - one that aimed to sets out a ‘bold and ambitious vision for the next Government to create a modern and dynamic digital economy that works for everyone.’At 55 pages long, it certainly is bold, ambitious...and also very long, so we thought wise to share word on the key take-away recommendations that you can follow up on in your own convenience.

The manifesto sets out four fundamental objectives for the UK’s 21st century economy:
- boosting the UK’s productivity;
- harnessing digital transformation to build a smarter state;
- creating new jobs and a new skilled, adaptable workforce; and
- protecting and empowering people in a digital age.
- Making Brexit a Success for Tech
- Achieving Economic Renewal Through a Modern Industrial Strategy
- Building the Smarter State
- Nurturing the Skills for the Jobs of the Future
- Guaranteeing a Safe and Secure Digital World
“The next Government has to get Brexit right, but we also have to prepare for the social and economic changes ahead. The pace of global digitisation will not slow down. We have a choice about whether we want to shape the digital future or be shaped by it. This manifesto is about inventing a positive future for everyone in Global Britain.”
With BREXIT, Economic Renewal, Skills development and having a safe, secure and smart digital world, all hot topics at present (and to be fair the last few years) we look forward to reading over the manifesto again and in more detail, and we encourage you and all the key political parties to do the same. Fair play to techUK for this comprehensive manifesto and launching it during the build up to the next UK General Election - great timing we thinks!
