Lucy Beaumont from Trainify shares some insights on the impact that tech will continue to have on the Fitness and Wellbeing sectors.
When you think of fitness and wellbeing, naturally technology wouldn’t be the first thing that springs to mind... what if I told you that technology is now becoming the most revolutionary part in transforming the fitness industry for the greater good and will be for the foreseeable future.
The combination of fitness and technology or FitTech is nothing new. However, now more than ever it's storming the fitness industry with new concepts that make it a whole new experience and extremely accessible for everyone across the globe. What technology can offer is simply unmatched when it comes to forward-thinking and trends in the Fitness and Wellbeing world.
Tempo, a company which was founded by Joshua Augustin and Moawia Eldeeb teamed up with fitness scientists, personal trainers, physiology PHD’s and engineers to create the first at home fitness platform. It provides training guidance, fitness equipment with 3D sensors, artificial intelligence, real time form feedback and custom training plans. Tempo has quite simply opened up the fitness world from every angle to people in the comfort of their own homes - something which at one time we could only have imagined.
Today's fitness apps and wearables such as "Fitbit" and "Fiit" have become integrated into our everyday lives, they track our health, record our steps and can even send positive reminders and words to empower and support people on their ongoing fitness journey. Platforms such as these encourage people to see that fitness doesn't have to be complicated but enjoyable and simple, something which can become a part of everyday life for years to come.
As the wearables market continues to soar so do the companies that make them. As mentioned, “FitBit” is known as the start of the craze which then quickly blew up into a whole new industry in the fitness world. “FitBit” was created by By James Park and Eric Friedman, they ventured into a journey to create a wearable that could empower and inspire us to live a healthier more active life- and they did just that. This new technology which could now enhance and track your lifestyle started a trend which society never looked back from.
Fitness and Wellness apps are unsurprisingly one of the most popular ways people access workouts and track their health. The endless options and features the apps provide gives individuals control and easy access to viewing their own health and wellness as well as specific workouts just for them. Fitness apps alone could be worth around $120.37 Billion by 2030, the increasing demand for virtual fitness will see fitness and wellness apps being used more and more not only for workouts but for personalised diet charts, calorie tracking and footstep tracking. As previously mentioned, the app “Fiit” is leading the way with Fitness apps, with over 600 classes, 20 plus training plans, the ability to connect a heart rate monitor and access live leader boards in group classes, we can see why.
As smart technology continues to storm the fitness industry, it's also created a space for itself in at home gyms. The future of at home gyms is FitTech central, busy schedules and hectic work lives of society tends to make us lean towards quicker and more convenient options and what's better then kitting out your own gym with all the new fitness Tech. Brands such as “Peleton” have been able to design products that give you the perfect combination of at home fitness and in gym experience. They produce top of the range stationary bikes and treadmills which can access virtual classes and live streamed workout routines using the touch screen display. They made it their mission to bring intense and atmospheric workouts into people’s everyday lives in a more accessible way.
On-demand fitness is at an all-time high, the idea of choosing when and where you work out is highly attractive to today's society. People of today are fast-paced and want options that can be there almost instantly. Companies such as "Trainify" have done exactly that. Trainify also known as “The home of personalised workouts” are a combination of fitness and technology, they have created a perfect platform where you can access expert trainers across the UK using precision mapping and live availability tools. You can personalise every aspect of your workout from the location, time and who will be coaching you for Yoga, Pilates, Hydro athletics and of course personal training. Trainify’s vision is to positively disrupt the industry and combine cutting edge technology with expert trainers so that the trainers are paid what they are worth and the clients get the service and results the truly deserve.
The future of fitness is ultimately being re-shaped by technology and the impact is immense, not only on the consumer and the new endless ways to access working out but on the market for FitTech and the ongoing trends and concepts that will continue to merge Fitness and Technology forever.
