Tech Stars Seattle Announces 2014 Startups!

by Startacus Admin
Everytime TechStars make an announcement of its latest intake of business it brings a happy little smile to our faces.
Not only because it gives us the opportunity to put pen to paper (or rather fingers to keyboards) and ramble endlessly about our favorite topics (startups, technology, accelerators etc), but also because we know that after their gruelling selection process, those left at the finish line are the absolute tip of the top, cream of the crop… flip of the flop… and it always makes for jolly interesting stuff.
TechStars
As you have probably guessed from the name, TechStars is an accelerator programme which aims to provide highly focused mentor-driven growth potential to tech startups. It has one of the best track records of any accelerator in the world with an enormous 90% of its participants still operating today, having raised a total of almost £600,000,000 in investment.
A couple of months ago we brought you news of TechStars London's latest bunch of startup hopefuls and now we pop ourselves across the pond to see what the seattle Tech Stars intake has to offer. Here’s a little introduction to each of the startups-

Crowsnest is a “software platform for the real world — sample code for controlling air conditioners, light bulbs, cameras and everything in between”.
Exploration Labs: This has the potential to be a game changer for people working in busiess to business sales as this tool could provide professionals with key information on leads before they have even met them.
Garmentory: With the tag line ‘Sale Starts Now, Ends Never’ Garmentory offers curated collections and rich shopping experiences from independent fashion boutiques across the world.
Live Stories: LiveStories builds data tools for non-technical people. Like Excel on hyperdrive they create, fun, intuitive data visualisations which draw inspiration from the real world.
MagikFlix: Transforms mobile devices into an educational and safe childrens video experience for ages 12 and under- It’s an example of one of our favouirite buzz words “Edutainment”
Stand In: Stand In says that it will redefine how mobile apps are designed. Quite a bold goal and one it says it will achieve by moving design beyond the static screens we have come to accept as inevitable.
Streamline: Is a Streamlining customer service: No more speaking to machines, no more wait time.
Touchbase: TouchBase is a mobile platform that helps sales representatives manage and present the most effective marketing material. It claims that it can reduce the times taken to prepare for presentations by 50 % and will significantly enhance the effectiveness of your sales efforts.
True Facet: TrueFacet.com is an online market place where people can buy and sell luxury watches and jewellery with confidence that the products on offer have been fully authenticated and are indeed the real mcoy.
Over the next 3 months or so the chosen 10 will embark upon the most intensive course of business mentorship that they have ever experienced, as their ideas are sanded down, refined, buffed and polished ready to be pitched to a group of eminent investors at the Techstars Launch Party on November 6th.
