Superpow! - the innovative online therapy app

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on Superpow! the online platform and app where users can connect with a therapist who can help them overcome mental wellbeing challenges through flexible and affordable online therapy...
Poor mental health affects 1 in 4 people in the UK. Unfortunately, this number was before COVID-19. This can take many forms, most of which are completely concealed from the outside world, which only makes it harder to talk to someone. As we become (slightly) less dimwitted as a society, therapy loses its stigma more and more, making it a little easier for people to make the decision to start talking to a professional. Of course, there’s more to it than just what we think others will think of us if we go to therapy, but every bit helps.
Online therapy is another means by which we have made it easier for people to seek help and advice, and that’s just what London-based healthtech startup Superpow! has created. The app is an online platform to connect the right therapist, via videoconferencing, with the user to help them overcome mental wellbeing challenges through flexible and affordable online therapy.
Crucially, the app does something different, which is to take diversity into account. Everyone’s individual, specific life brings unique challenges as well as those most of us share; however, diversity adds another layer, experiences shared only by others of their ethnicity, gender, orientation, physical ability, etc. Because of this, diversity in therapists is of great importance, and Superpow! gives it that importance.
Users of the app will be asked 5 multiple-choice questions, after which they will be shown a list of matching therapists. You then select one of them and book your first session. Superpow! puts an emphasis on making this process quick, easy, and straightforward, lessening the chances of the user having time to change their mind and close the app and not book. Payments are made for each session, rather than by subscription, removing any notion of a set period of therapy or ‘treatment’.
Superpow! is being released fully at the end of the year on both Android and iOS.
As well as finalising the app and entering the market, the startup will be working on a B2B channel where they will work with organisations to provide easy access to mental health support for their employees.
