Studytracks app puts the curriculum to music

by Startacus Admin

The lowdown on Studytracks, the app that's the "easiest way to learn and the smartest way to teach".

But what if these two disparate things could be joined together to help us absorb knowledge and know it with just as much immediacy and certainty as we know that Bob Marley did not shoot the deputy?
Edtech startup Studytracks is doing just that. Award-winning UK songwriter George Hammond-Hagan wanted a way to help his son study more effectively and enjoyably, and so he put to use what he does best: music stuff, as he would undoubtedly refer to it. He says that music is well known for its ability to help people’s memory formation and retrieval, as well as to assist with focus, and he is putting that to good use. This is called the Mozart Effect.
The Studytracks app holds more than 1,500 tracks that cover over 45 subjects. These are not just music tracks played in the background while you study, but tracks with actual lyrics that help to teach those subjects in a way that will be retained.
Since its inception in 2015, Studytracks has been taken on by over 100 schools, spread from the UK to France to the US, and is being used by more than 350,000 users.
In September, the startup raised €1 million in a seed round led by OneRagtime and Leansquare, and this will be used to expand their reach still further and bring Studytracks to more students in more institutions. We’d usually say that this is a startup to keep an eye on, but for this one, we’ll keep an ear to the ground!
