Startup of the Week - Zen Educate

by Startacus Admin
Zen Educate is a London-based edtech startup that's on a mission to innovate the education staffing sector...

Zen Educate is an innovative digital staffing platform for schools and teachers.
In essence it is providing a much more efficient way for supply teachers to be connected with schools. No more need for a list of names in a school office, no more need to contact a recruitment agency and thereby pay the recruiter’s fees.
Here’s how it works:
If you’re a teacher, you firstly register online, outlining some basic info about yourself. The Zen Educate team will then get in touch and set up a meeting to find out a little more about your needs and preferences. They’ll obviously also have to verify your ID, qualifications and carry out a DBS check.
Once that has been done and you’re verified, you’re then able to be booked by schools. Zen Educate will enable you to update your calendar, indicating when you’re available for assignments, thereby ensuring that you’ll only be contacted when you’re actually free.
If you’re a school, you can use the platform to browse through the profiles and book the teacher or teaching assistant that you would like in a matter of minutes. You can be assured that all teachers on the site are fully vetted and have been interviewed by the Zen Educate team to ensure that they meet the required standards.
You’ll be able to see teachers who are available for short term and long term cover as well as permanent roles.
There will be no need for time consuming calls or completing timesheets - it’s simply a matter of clicking a button.
Zen Educate is a win win for all concerned. After all, it helps schools save time and money and it helps teachers and teaching assistants get employment opportunities.
The platform is currently focused on the London and Manchester areas. However, having raised over £5million in September, we would hope that it will soon be expanding its offering so that schools and teachers elsewhere can soon avail of this innovative digital solution.
