Startup of the Week - Writer.ly

by Startacus Admin
If you’re a writer these days you’ll know only too well that to create a successful product it’s not simply a matter of putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Writing the content is just the beginning - there’s the whole matter of editing, publishing and of course marketing and promotion to be considered too.Our latest Startup of the Week is a business which is aiming to help with all this and more besides.
Writer.ly is an online platform which helps writers connect directly with the people they need to help create their books and get them sold.
Like any marketplace type platform, it’s all about facilitating introductions and connections.
It’s quite a straightforward process:
Writers simply post jobs outlining what they need help with - this could be anything from Proofreading through to Cover Design. Freelancers then bid on the jobs that they would like. It’s up to the writer then to choose a Freelancer who fits the bill. They may select a Freelancer on price alone or on the portfolio of their work or even on the reviews that other writers have given them.
The Writer.ly website is easy to use and navigate regardless of whether you’re a writer or a freelancer looking for work.
It’s free to set up a Writer.ly account although there is a 10% fee charged on any completed jobs - all in all that’s pretty fair and quite standard for this type of platform.
We reckon that all writers who are aiming for commercial reward for their work should certainly check out Writer.ly - it's well worth a look!
