Startup of the Week - WholeWorldBand

by Startacus Admin
As anybody involved in the music industry will vouch for, it’s certainly changed a lot in the last few years.
The demise of high street record stores and the rise in downloads have all played their part in making a musician’s lot a far from happy one - especially when it comes to making money. Therefore the fact there seems to be a bit of a trend in new online businesses which aim to help musicians both market their work and also earn some money has to be a good thing. Our latest Startup of the Week is one such business.
The aptly named WholeWorldBand is an innovative audio-visual music platform and mobile app which enables anyone to earn money by recording their own music or by adding to someone else’s music in both sound and vision. Users will be able to play with well-known, established artists and bands as well as new and emerging, undiscovered talent.
With famous artists in particular, WholeWorldBand is providing a pretty innovative and novel way for them to interact with their fans.
Making money from WholeWorldBand can be done by if you add or ‘seed’ a new recording or if you contribute to an existing recording. The user who ‘seeds’ the recording determines how much of the revenue is shared with those who contribute.
The WholeWorldBand platform and app will launch officially in the next few months and will be available for iOS devices only. Can’t wait? You can sign up now and be notified as soon as it goes live.
Check out the video below to give you a little flavour of what it’s all about.
WholeWorldBand
In a sense WholeWorldBand is like having a recording studio in the cloud that anyone can access, no matter where they are in the world. That’s awesome enough in itself, but the fact that the platform could potentially help musicians make money makes it even better. We think it rocks.
