Startup of the Week - Waggel

by Startacus Admin
The lowdown on InsurTech startup Waggel that's created an innovative new digital pet insurance for pet people...
If you’re a responsible pet owner, chances are you will have purchased pet insurance to provide cover for your beloved pooch or moggy. And if you haven’t, then perhaps you should! After all, pet ownership can be a costly business and if your pet requires emergency treatment or contracts a serious illness, the vet bills alone can be a nightmare.
However pet insurance is no different to many other forms of insurance in that it has not always been easy to find the right policy, with the right cover for your needs - until now that is - thanks to our latest startup of the week.
Waggel is a new InsurTech startup which is providing “pet insurance for pet people”.
In effect what Waggel does is provide pet owners with a tailored, personalised insurance for their pets. Owners can stipulate how much they want to spend each month and what they require cover for, and Waggel will provide a policy to suit.
It is wholly transparent so pet owners can see exactly what their pet is covered for - there is none of the usual jargon and confusing language which is often synonymous with insurance policies.
The Waggel app makes it a doddle to get a quote and should you have to make a claim on the policy, you can do that via the app in a matter of minutes. And you can also track that claim - in real time.
Waggel also offers many other benefits for pet owners. For example, policy holders can avail of a reward programme which offers them discounts and savings on a range of pet foods, toys and accessories. Also, if you have not had to make a claim, you can donate a portion of your unclaimed premium to the charity of your choice.
The insurance sector can be a pretty complex one and therefore any innovations which aim to disrupt it and simplify things ought to be welcomed.
Waggel - we’re loving your work!
