Startup of the Week - Thortful

Thortful - The startup that's providing a creative card marketplace for designers, illustrators and photographers
Whether it's for your brother's birthday or your parents’ anniversary, choosing a decent card can sometimes be more difficult than buying a gift - unless of course a last minute purchase from the local garage suits you fine!
If however you like to deliberate over the card - selecting just the right meaningful message or witty rhyme that perfectly suits the recipient, chances are the high street doesn't always meet your needs and when it comes to online options, they can be a little clichéd to say the least.
Until now that is…thanks to our latest startup of the week.
Thortful is “a creative card marketplace supporting a community of designers, illustrators and photographers who create beautiful, unique greetings cards”.
Recognising that consumers want more choice and something that's a bit different from the norm, they have created a platform which features cards for quite possibly every occasion you could think of and they've done this by providing a space for independent creatives to showcase and sell their wares.

The Thortful team will assess and moderate your designs to ensure they meet the required standards and quality. Once approved, they will be live and available for either consumers or

Thortful pay creators 30p royalties for each sale of one of their designs, which is well above what other marketplaces pay to illustrators and designers for card designs. And what is particularly important is that the creator retains full copyright for their design.
We really like the fact that Thortful is giving a platform to independent creatives to help them generate some of that all important revenue.
And of course we love the fact that it's providing us customers with so much choice when it comes to buying cards!
